Biography

Ty walked onto the University of Georgia football team in 2008 and served as the long snapper from 2009-2012, starting 54 consecutive games – a UGA record. He was voted Team Captain as a senior and graduated magna cum laude in Biomedical Engineering in 2012. Ty was also elected to the Academic All American team, an honor that he shares with 18 other UGA Football players across history. Ty went on to receive an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Georgia in 2014. Ty was accepted to medical school in 2013 but decided to put that dream on hold in order start Ichor, a biomedical device/data analytics company, and he has served as the CEO since.

2012:
Appeared in 14 games.
Elected as the team’s special teams captain.
Named CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District.
Earned degree in biological engineering in May.
Inducted into UGA’s Student-Athlete Leadership Academy known as L.E.A.D. (Leadership Education and Development).
Recipient of the William C. Hartman, Jr. Scholarship.

2011:
Appeared in 14 games as the primary snapper.
Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
Named to SEC Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for fall semester.
Named a Peach of an Athlete honoree.
Named football’s Scholar-Athlete for 2010 at UGA Student-Athlete Awards Banquet held in April.
Recipient of the Ramsey Academic Scholarship.

2010:
Appeared in 13 games handling all snapping duties.
Named to SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Awarded a scholarship during the spring.
Recipient of the Aldredge-Kimberly Football Scholarship.
Earned Athletic Director’s Honor Roll distinction for spring semester.

2009:
Appeared in all 13 games handling all snapping duties.
Named to SEC Academic Honor Roll and fall 2009 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

2008:
Redshirted.
Earned SEC Academic Honor Roll and Director’s Honor Roll distinction for fall semester.

High School: Calhoun, coached by Hal Lamb…Four-year letterman as a member of the four-time region champions including a state runner-up finish in 2006…Earned two letters in baseball and helped team earn 2005 state championship…Also lettered in basketball…Served as student council president and senior class president…Member of National Honor Society, Beta Club and Key Club…graduated as valedictorian of his class…son of Mitch Frix who lettered as Georgia’s snapper in 1981 and ’82.
